Dwarf Pink Escallonia
What a beautiful little plant! Red trunk and branches that quickly develop bark, glossy green leaves and dark pink flowers! This is a slow growing shrub that left unchecked will only get to three feet. It seems to bud back very well.
They take well to pot culture and can handle mild frosts. They are also heat don’t allow extended periods of dryness but don’t keep wet.
A fast draining Bonsai soil is recommended. Don’t cut back past an active bud for best results. Repot in late spring. It is reported that they are resistant to most pests and diseases.
I am growing one indoors under T5 HO fluorescent lighting and it is doing very well.
Attention! You will need to provide shelter if temperatures drop below freezing!
